What you may notice
Turning away, lip licking, repeated yawning, a tucked or lowered posture, sudden stillness, scanning, or difficulty reconnecting after something happens.
What it can mean
Your dog may be uncertain, over-stimulated, uncomfortable, or asking for more space. Even a wagging tail needs to be read alongside the rest of the body.
What to try
- Pause what is happening and create comfortable distance.
- Lower the difficulty by reducing movement, noise, proximity, or duration.
- Continue only when the body softens and your dog can orient back to the environment or to you.
